Live at Cape: Weather OK for satellite launch

LIVE IMAGES: The images above are from live video feeds at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where United Launch Alliance is preparing to launch a Delta IV rocket and a new national weather satellite. The image on the left is from the Air Force 45th Space Wing Weather Channel; on the right is the Delta IV rocket on Launch Complex 37. They will automatically refresh to the most up-to-the-minute image every 30 seconds.

Update, 3:45 p.m.: Loading of liquid oxygen in the Delta IV's upper stage is complete.

For the time being, anyway, there are no weather constraints to a Delta IV rocket's planned 6:14 p.m. launch of a weather satellite from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The update came about 90 minutes after a thunderstorm zapped lightning within 1.5 miles of Launch Complex 37.

Air Force meteorologists are continuing to monitor anvil clouds to the north and west that could track toward the launch pad.

United Launch Alliance and NASA have an hour-long launch window opening at 6:14 p.m.

No technical problems are reported.

The rocket's upper stage is being loaded with liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.
