There's an 80 percent chance of favorable weather for Discovery's planned 4:40 p.m. Monday blastoff from Kennedy Space Center, according to a forecast released this morning by Air Force meteorologists.

The main concern is a possibility that a low cloud ceiling could develop over the spaceport during the 10-minute launch window.
But conditions should be excellent for processing work through the weekend and external tank fueling scheduled to start at 7:15 a.m. Monday.
If the launch is delayed to Tuesday or Wednesday, the odds of good weather drop slightly, with the same concern about clouds and a chance of showers within 20 nautical miles of the launch site. But there's still a 70 percent chance of acceptable conditions.

Discovery mission commander Steve Lindsey and pilot Eric Boe this morning are practicing landings in a Gulfstream jet modified to handle like an orbiter during descent.
