Six Astronauts Arrive For Discovery's Final Flight Into Space

Discovery’s final astronaut crew flew to Kennedy Space Center Thursday as NASA prepared to start a countdown to their planned launch Monday.

An Air Force F-15 fighter jet buzzed the shuttle runway as mission commander Steve Lindsey and his five crew members greeted reporters and photographers covering their arrival.

"That was courtesy of the Air Force," said Lindsey, a retired Air Force colonel.

The crew includes pilot Eric Boe and four mission specialists: Michael Barratt, Alvin Drew, Tim Kopra and Nicole Stott. Stott is a former KSC shuttle-processing engineer.

"For our launch control team – thanks in advance for getting us to orbit on Monday," Stott said.

Liftoff is set for 4:40 p.m. Monday.
