Shuttle Flips For Station As Outpost Crew Surveys Tiles

With mission commander Ken Ham at the controls, shuttle Atlantis just performed a nose-over-tail back-flip so colleagues on the International Space Station could photographically document heat-shield tiles on the underside of the orbiter.

The Rotational Pitch Maneuver, or RPM, took about eight minutes to complete, and the shuttle and station crossed over much of Europe during that short span. Atlantis was just inside of 600 feet below the outpost at the time.

Coming up next: Shuttle docking at the station at 10:27 a.m.

With no foam loss or visible tile damage, the Shuttle is finally flying as it was always meant to. Canceling the Shuttle now makes no sense.
