Atlantis still on track for May 14 liftoff

At the conclusion of a flight readiness review Wednesday, shuttle program managers agreed to recommend a May 14 launch date for Atlantis when NASA officials gather for a final review next Wednesday.

The official launch date will be set then.

A May 14 launch would be targeted for 2:20 p.m., the middle of a 10-minute window.

No major problems were discussed at this week's review, keeping Atlantis on schedule for what is expected to be its final flight.

Shuttle and International Space Station officials and Atlantis' crew of six astronauts plan to brief the media Monday on the upcoming 12-day mission, which will carry a Russian module and spare parts to the station.

You can watch the briefings live here starting at 9 a.m. Eastern. Click on the NASA TV box at right to launch a video player.
