NASA Poised To Firm Up Feb. 7 Shuttle Launch Date

NASA is expected to select Feb. 7 as a firm launch date for the upcoming Endeavour launch at the conclusion of an ongoing flight readiness review at Kennedy Space Center.

Endeavour and six astronauts are tentatively scheduled to blast off from launch pad 39A on a mission to deliver the U.S. Tranquility module and an attached Cupola to the International Space Station. NASA engineers developed a replacement for faulty ammonia hoses that will link Tranquility to the station's cooling systems, clearing the way for managers to firm up the Feb. 7 target date.

The executive-level review is expected to conclude around 3 p.m. and a news conference could follow as early as 4 p.m. You can watch the briefing here in The Flame Trench. Click the NASA TV box on the right side of this page to launch our NASA TV viewer and live coverage.
