To my former brothers and sisters:

I crossed the line to feed my family. I know that you hate me for it, but they come first. I've had enough of the lies our negotiating committee is spewing.

I know you will either accuse me of being USA HR or simply not read any further, but PLEASE do - I still care about most of you because I know you are caught up in this. You are hard workers and the company does need you back. They are getting along ok without you, but it will be much better when you come back if we can leave the few bad eggs out there.

I really thought they would be behind, but I found that most of the maintenance is done. A few things have been put off with NASA buy-in, but most PM's are done (actually done - not pencil whipped) in the first week of the month. Some of the shops almost don't have enough work left for the few replacements they have.

The shops have never been cleaner, either. You will probably not recognize the place when you do come back. I can't believe how much of a pig stye we had let the place become!

Remember why we started out here and remember that we are all one family. NASA and USA have both welcomed me back like the prodigal son and made me feel really good for contributing to the program.

I'll miss you if you don't choose to come back, but I hope you do soon.

No hard feelings on my side (except for the years of union dues I wasted!)

It is now only pride that keeps my son-in-law from returning to work. He cannot stand the people who wanted this strike from the very beginning. Yet he wants to save face by not going back to work. I respect him less each day. My daughter wants him to work also. I hope he reads this and wakes up.

First off, it's not your chair, it's the companies. Second, you were never in it anyway, you were always out smoking. Third, you have to actually "do something" to work somewhere, which I hear you did not do. So, enjoy your smoke break, you have a long time now!

This is why people hate their mother-in-laws. They can't mind their own business. Just watch your soaps and keep your nose out of other peoples stuff. He didn't marry you. He just inherited you. Its called baggage. It doesn't give you the right to interfere in their lives. My wife wants me back at work too but she understands what is going on and supports me. Her mom isn't butting in. 7:24, you say your wife understands and supports you. Yeah right! So she understands you were going on strike because your leadership wanted you to strike this company even before negotiations started? They did. one hoped for time on his boat knowing he's still paid even though you're not. She understands what's going on? She then uderstands you just struck yourself out of a job and she's "down with it homey"? She understands that the UAW that just settled their strike up north have an educated bargaining comittee? Go on, look up their degrees. UAW.org/barg/07/fact/fact09
The facts are such that your wife married a moron that walked out on one of the sweetest jobs in Florida. But you, no you got foolish pride. "I'll ride this out hell or high water" you say. I'll work your job I say. Perhaps it'll be me that buys your house when you foreclose.

The temporary strike replacement workers will probably not be hired as regular employees, but will remain temps through the end of the contract. This may give false hope to strikers, but they must understand also that they are still out of a job. Ask your union where talks are now, or when they will resume. Call them every day if you have to, but get an answer. It's your job they sold out! Ask them what they get paid while you are on strike.

QUOTE>>>Democrats on the House Science and Technology Committee, which is charged with oversight of NASA, has given their full backing to the IAM and the strikers of Local Lodge 2061. This is important news, as the support the IAM has brought together is essential for success. We continue to explore every opportunity including discussions with the Federal Mediation Services and all other interested parties, and we are committed to bring this strike to a reasonable and equitable conclusion for our members.<<<<

Can you believe this drivel...of course politicians back the union...especially democrats who have been historically known to try to suck up to unions to try to get thier vote. Yeah, I am so sure that one of these politicians would be sur eto go on record how much they could care less about the union folk, that would get them a lot of votes.
Guess what, it is good to see that they are on the oversight committee for NASA...and will NEVER do anything to interfere with the trade practices between NASA or ANY of it's subcontractors because THAT alone could be cause for a contractor in federal arbitration court to get a strike and a union tossed out on it's butt.
But tell ole Johnny and company to keep feeding this bogus info to all the folks because it amounts to nothing but air and it won't feed your families, pay the overdue house and auto payments...but it could end you out of a job and in bankruptcy court.....and Johnny will still have a job.
I am not telling you to cross the line....check out all the info for yourselves, ask th negotiating commitee members the HARD questions, and MAKE them give you real answers, not the old traditional...we'll check into that smoke and mirrors....think about it folks....really think about it.

The company doen't want the union back. Think about it. They know most people are tired of the strike and all they had to do was offer a contract that was slightly better than the previous one. It would have passed. But they offered a package that didn't have a prayer. Nasa is saving close to a million dollars a month, all the milestones are getting met and the USA bosses are going to get huge bonuses. Why would they bring the IAM back? They want to be more efficient for the next program. If you are one of the people that would rather die than cross the picket line you better start looking for a job elsewhere.

They will be called back within seniority by classification as required.
There will be no mass return of strikers who walked off the job.
Depending on the classification some may never return.
This was not a lock out the employees walked off the job on their own accord.
USA is under no contract requirement to return any of the strikers too their former job at KSC.

The IAM today released a letter from Democratic members of Congress that has been delivered to the United Space Alliance CEO. Those congress people signing the letter include Mark Gordon, Chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, and Mark Udall, Chairman of the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, and members from both committees. The letter strongly urges United Space Alliance to return to the bargaining table to seek a fair resolution to the contract dispute.

It's nice to see that we have representatives in Congress who will stand up and put their names on the dotted line to ensure a resolution to this strike

The final straw was the insult by 2 negotiating members. Be sure and raise that question at your meeting. Ask them what they said. It was a deciding factor and shows again how poorly you were led. No posts here about the big news buzzing KSC today? Metrics have shown in the last weeks that operations are smooth and almost seemless without the union. Transportation is the best it has ever been. Warehouse metrics were improved noticably. USA does not want and will not agree to further talks with the union.
The sad part is many good workers are going to forfeit their job by being on strike. USA is hiring temporary employees to help close out the program. They can legally hire as many temps as they want to regardless of what some union members are being told. The word is...buy Sunday's paper and an add is in the sport section regarding the hiring. No further bargaining is desired by USA. They don't have to as they brought a mediator last time and the unions comments and arrogance doomed them. Saying that this strike "was sanctioned" means absolutely nothing. They are hiring. Read the paper and draw your own conclusions. THINK for yourself. It is over.

Anonymous said...

There is a letter being signed by top Democrats to urge USA to go back to the table. This letter has some weight behind it. It will get bargaining started agaian. One knowledgable man I respect very much said today all actions undertaken by USA lately are legally allowable. Also said if the add is't a ruse and they do indeed hire folks, we'er in trouble.
