The Tallahassee Democrat reports that 17 people have applied to replace retiring FSU President T.K. Wetherell, including several members of the faculty.
Thagard, who flew aboard the space shuttle on four missions and for an extended tour on the Russian space station Mir, is currently an associate dean of the school of engineering at FSU.
