Endeavour astronauts have reached launch pad 39A and are boarding an elevator to the 195-foot level. There, they'll cross a 65-foot access arm that ends in the "white room," an environmentally controlled box that is their last stop before entering Endeavour.
A closeout crew will do a final check of the astronauts' launch-and-entry suits, including outfitting them with light sticks that could help locate the astronauts in the dark, and help them into their seats aboard Endeavour.
That process was scheduled to begin at 2:43 p.m. The crew hatch is scheduled to be closed at 3:58 p.m.
Weather remains "red" for several launch criteria, but NASA says it is trending in a positive way, with the Eastern sea breeze picking up and hopefully pushing storms inland before a planned 6:03 p.m. launch.
NASA's Final Inspection Team, or "ice team," is leaving the pad just as the astronauts arrive. They'll present a report on their findings to launch managers. The astronauts are said to be in no danger despite another Phase 2 lightning warning at the pad.
Mission commander Mark Polansky will be the first to enter Endeavour.
