Live at KSC: Crew hopes rally caps bring luck

Endeavour's crew is trying to make itself a little luck today.

Some of the astronauts have donned "rally caps" before entering the orbiter for a sixth launch attempt.

At left, you can see mission specialist Chris Cassidy, a former Navy SEAL and first-time shuttle flyer, showing off the inside-out cap with its bill folded up inside the launch pad's White Room.

At the same time, the weather around Kennedy Space Center is changing by the minute. A lightning warning for the pad has been downgraded, but anvil clouds are pushing toward the space center.

There's still more than three hours until a planned 6:03 p.m. launch.

Once seated in the shuttle, the rally caps will be replaced by helmets attached to partial pressure launch suits.

Fortunately, it looks like the storm near Titusville will dissipate soon.
