The first and second stages of the Delta II rocket is being pressurized for flight as the countdown to a planned launch of a Delta II rocket and a military navigation satellite continue at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
The 125-foot United Launch Alliance rocket and its payload -- a Navstar Global Positioning System satellite -- are schjeduled to blast off from Launch Complex 17A during a window that will extend from 3:34 a.m. through 4:41 a.m.
The weather forecast calls for a 90 percent chance conditions will be acceptable for launch. A pair of weather balloons just were launched to gauge upper-level winds, which are expected to be within limits.
The rocket's guidance system also has been turned on and will be monitored through the countdown by engineers in the Mission Director's Center at the launch base.
