Live: Astronauts on way to launch pad

Commander Lee Archambault and six fellow astronauts are leaving their crew quarters and bound for their waiting spaceship.

In addition to Archambault, the crew includes pilot Tony Antonelli and mission specialists Joseph Acaba, John Phillips, Steve Swanson, Richard Arnold and Koichi Wakata (of Japan).

They've boarded a silver van that will carry them from the Operations & Checkout Building in the KSC industrial area past the Vehicle Assembly Building, Launch Control Center and press site on their way to Pad 39A.

Meanwhile, we're about to go live with our second guest interview after the astronauts' trip is complete.

An earlier technical issue with a helium gas pressure valve in the mobile launcher platform is fixed and there are no other technical or weather concerns threatening the launch, as of right now. Stay tuned for live updates and video all day.
