Live: Delta 2 launch today!

The mobile service tower was rolled away by 7 a.m.

NO ISSUES BLOCKING TODAY'S LAUNCH

The mobile service tower was moved away from the Delta 2 rocket at Launch Complex 17A at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station by 7 a.m., said a ULA spokesman. The terminal countdown begins a minute before noon. Fueling begins shortly afterward.

Launch crews faced no technical issues as they worked toward the launch window: 2:59 p.m. to 3:13 p.m.

The 12-story rocket will carry a Navstar Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite into an 11,000-mile orbit. The GPS constellation provides navigation and precise timekeeping to hikers, boaters, motorists and the military.

An 80 percent chance of favorable weather is forecast.

The launch will be "The Lucky 13th" for United Launch Alliance, a Boeing and Lockheed Martin venture for Delta and Atlas rocket programs. ULA employs 812 on the Space Coast, about a fifth of its workforce.

This will be the eighth ULA launch in 94 days.
