American adventurer Steve Fossett has filed an official flight plan that calls for a take-off at 7 a.m. EST, but the renowned pilot still is aiming to take-off in the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer as dawn breaks over Florida's Space Coast.
That means Fossett still plans to take off at 6:42 a.m. The window for today's take-off will extend to 7:07 a.m.
The weather still is marginal with temperatures remaining the prime concern. The GlobalFlyer's single turbofan engine requires cold dense air to achieve full thrust on take-off, so temperatures at the Kennedy Space Center shuttle runway must be 54 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.
Global jet stream conditions still are favorable for flight.
