A dicey landing, but all is well

GlobalFlyer's landing, at a 6,000 foot runway at Bournemouth instead of the desired landing site at Kent, was dicey too. GlobalFlyer blew two tires on landing.

Steve Fossett is OK. Jim Ball, the KSC spaceport development manager who was lucky enough to get to go to England for the landing, says that the crowd gathered there has been told that Fossett is coming to visit with them shortly.

"It's a little disappointing we didn't get to see it, but the important thing is that he's OK and the mission was successful," Ball says via telephone from England.
