USA aims to replace striking workers

From Florida Today Staff Writer Scott Blake:

United Space Alliance said it plans to hire hundreds of workers to replace members of the Machinists union on strike at Kennedy Space Center since June 14 over failed contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, a letter dated Friday from 23 members of Congress to Michael McCulley, president and chief executive officer of United Space Alliance, encourages the company "to reach an agreement in a timely manner."

The "nation is counting on a continuation" of the productive partnership between the union and the company to "ensure that the remaining shuttle missions are carried out safely and successfully," the letter states. "If we are to transition smoothly from the space shuttle program to the Ares/Orion program, we will need the talents and experience of this workforce."

The congressional letter was addressed to Mike McCully, he is transitioning OUT of the USA loop. Why would you send a letter to someone who is leaving unless it was to say GOODBYE!DUH...

To the overweight guy driving the gold honda pilot, we got your license number today. So you may be getting a visit from security this week. Should that fail to get results I'm sure the sheriff's office might want to talk to you. Maybe you should talk to to the guy you nearly hit. Same time as the incident occured.

THE END IS NOT NEAR, THE END IS HERE.

Strikers are all showing the "WHUPPED PUPPY" look. After 108 days of watching your IAM leaders accomplish nothing for you, most are now hoping they break the EG&G record of 115 days out so they have something to show for it!

Anonymous said...

It would be great if they could go for 180 days then Walker could hold both records.EG&G and USA
Go for it Brothers and Sisters
hold that line.
He will show them whom the Boss is.

115 days
Wow, I must have eaten 30 cases of Cheetos and drank 60 cases of beer!! Hmmmm, wonder if Cheetos will send me a Christmas card this year!! Think I might need a Liver transplant before Christmas!!

Looks like the IAM should take down the tent and put up a wooden structure.
They are going to be out a long time.
The East Coast Railroad strike lasted 13 years.
The IAM should try too brake that record that would put them in the record books.

I'll strike until the cows come home cause I'm believing this is right to do. Such a bad,bad company. Such a terrible offer. It ain't about no money though. Its the principle of it, or something like that. What did they tell me it was? Yeh, principle. I've got pride. IAM a fool.

Anonymous said...

Instead of striking, if the offer was that bad, I'd work until I found another job. That's how the intelligent world would do it. To cut myself off, and my family too, from wages & insurance, I'd be an idiot of first rate. When I drive by every day, I see signs that say "I'm an idiot!". You did it to yourself! Ha!

Walkers Waco now on day.....ahh who cares? At least talks are resuming soon right? I mean, the letter, right?
Don't go, I've got another dance you haven't seen yet.

THE SPACE PROGRAM WOULD HAVE A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT IN QUALITY AND COST PERFRORMANCE, IF IT NEVER BROUGHT BACK ANY IAM STRIKERS.

THE BLOGS FROM THE UNION MEMBERS IS THE SAME AS THEIR WORK PERFROMANCE FOR USA.

Anonymous said...

IAM a fool to follow Walker and his mob.
IAM told this is for pride and our future?
IAM told to vote no it was a bad offer.
IAM tired of being told what too do.
IAM going too go to work IAM

805 better find out who your main boss is it is not NASA or USA it is the full of hot air and never there when you need them....politicians and in the end they want us back they never told USA how much they can offer like NASA did so it is not interference but it shows the boss is looking and as much as you dont like it the head of USA and NASA that have to answer to the house of science and technology will take a hard look at it (dont bite the hand that feeds)

Nothing but words and music bud....words and music. By the way...they, the politicians, especially those from heavy union labor states will sign anything to get a vote...like I said before...there just politicians, and it was just a simple letter...that by the way...nobody from florida bought into....did ya notice that important fact. Keep talking....just like a politician....

1:18 AM

Hey now that was brilliant statement. They had better find out who thier bosses were. Well the folks that signed the letter aren't. What they are is a bunch of democratic politicians that have most all taken contributions from the IAM union...so thier signatures have basically been bought and amount to nothing. And all the pressure they could muster would not effect USA as the only place they could direct it would be at NASA and I seem to remember a lawsuit filed by the IAM against NASA for interference in the contract negotiations so USA could turn around and do the same thing and keep the whole mess in the courts until everone is all old and gray and the entire space program has gone away. By the way...did you notice that the 1 billion dollar request from the goverment was denied today and that money was DIRECTLY slotted for the sustaining maintenance for in between programs so guess what...nobody will have a job in a few years on KSC so the entire strike and associated BS from both sides is all useless and moot!!!

Mech tech and his pal savage lost the union their contract and are now amature bloggers. "We'll be back soon!" they say. Hey guess what? You said that 2 months ago! So blog all you want plinker, it doesn't mean sqoo to anyone.Poor some more gin.

What I do know is I am working. If I felt as bad as these "yes man" goose steppers did about my job, I'd find another. Tell yourself all you want to this is a just strike. You betray your family all you want. Funny, you strike to hurt the company, but it backfired pretty bad didn't it. Start decorating your signs, Halloween is coming. You'll be out there Christmas too. Did it to yourself.

Anonymous said...

There will be no further contract talks.

It will become apparent in the next week that the strike fund is gone!
