SpaceX aborted a Falcon 9 first-stage engine test at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 9:30 a.m. and recycled countdown clocks to T-Minus 13 minutes.
Dark smoke could be seen after an engine start-up sequence but the rocket's nine Merlin 1C engines did not ignite. The countdown was halted at T-Minus 1.9 seconds. No word yet on what triggered the abort.
A data review is under way.
The window for the engine-firing today extends through 3 p.m. SpaceX hopes to make another attempt today.
