"Keep A Shuttle In Florida" On Facebook, Internet Petition Site

A local bid to land one of two shuttle orbiters up for grabs after fleet retirement next year is gaining a few extra campaigners.

A Facebook site called "Keep A Shuttle In Florida" popped up in late July and already has more than 6,300 fans.

Separately, a group called the National Air, Sea and Space Foundation has set up a "Keep A Shuttle In Florida Petition.

NASA this year is expected to announce where two of the three
remaining shuttle orbiters will roost during retirement. Discovery is slated to go to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Atlantis and Endeavour will go to museums or visitor centers that sent proposals to NASA last year.

Does anyone really think they aren't going to give one to KSC? I really think there is little contest on that. The third one as well as Enterprise are the only ones that are undecided.

Keep Atlantis at KSC. Endeavour to California and Enterprise to JSC.
