Live at KSC: Dynamic weather improving

Weather may go down to the wire again for today's 6:03 p.m. shuttle launch.

Only one weather category is "red": anvil clouds too close to Kennedy Space Center, which are expected to dissipate.

Minutes ago, four weather criteria were "no-go," including lightning and cumulus clouds.

A clear radius of 20 nautical miles around the shuttle landing strip may be the trickiest rule to satisfy for launch.

Chief Astronaut Steve Lindsey just took off in a modified Gulfstream jet called the Shuttle Training Aircraft to help observe weather conditions around the landing site.

The closeout crew is almost ready to depart launch pad 39A after closing the hatch behind Endeavour's crew and pressurizing the cabin.
