See the presentations made to Augustine panel

Did you miss the Augustine panel's first meeting?

The presidential committee reviewing NASA's human space flight plans held its first public session last Wednesday and covered a lot of ground.

Over the weekend, the panel posted the slides from each of the speakers. We've posted links here to some of the presentations and a link to the entire list at NASA's web site. They're worth a look.

  • Summary of past human space flight reviews.
  • NASA's Constellation program review.
  • United Launch Alliance's Delta IV Heavy proposal.
  • Aerospace Corp. study of EELV vs. Ares.
  • Direct launcher proposal.
  • Side-mounted shuttle proposal.
  • Space X COTS proposal.

Here's the link to the NASA site containing the rest of the presentations.

I predict a consolidation of sorts as the two main contractors merge over the next several years. Tight money will mean the end of many jobs as those tasks are internalized by the new contractor and multiple redundancies are eliminated. NASA itself will be the last source of bloat with many more its people standing around looking at simpler processes. The next 10 years are going to be very transformational indeed.
