Live At KSC: 747 & Atlantis In Florida Airspace

The orbiter Atlantis and its carrier aircraft just entered Florida airspace, crossing over the border with neighboring Georgia north of Lake City.

The dynamic duo are scheduled to enter the Space Coast area around 6:29 a.m. and then at pilot's discretion, and weather permitting, the 747 likely will opt to do a flyover of Space Coast beaches between Patrick Air Force Base and NASA's shuttle runway at KSC.

A beach flyover likely would lead to a KSC touchdown about 6:45 p.m.
