Live: Soyuz lifts off with three more ISS crew

A Soyuz rocket has lifted off from Kazakhstan carrying three additional crew members for the International Space Station.

Liftoff at 6:34 Eastern time this morning starts a two-day journey to the space station, where the newcomers will help NASA and its international partners realize their longtime goal of a science complex in orbit. The Soyuz capsule successfully separated from the rocket about nine minutes later.

The three new residents will bring the station crew to six, ending a nearly decade-long period during which the size of the crew severely limited work aboard the station to just operations and maintenance.
