Live In Orbit: Atlantis Targets California Landing

NASA just waved off its final opportunity to bring shuttle Atlantis and its crew to Kennedy Space Center as a result of storms in the area.

NASA Entry Flight Director Norm Knight decided the weather in Florida was too dynamic to send the shuttle and its crew to the runway at the central Florida homeport.

"Atlantis, Houston. We just could not get comformable with the KSC weather," said Gregory "Box" Johnson.

The shuttle and its crew will head to Edwards Air Force Base for a landing at 11:39 a.m. The weather there is near-perfect.
