The Atlantis astronauts are gearing up for a return to Earth, but unstable weather in Florida might promt NASA to send the shuttle and its crew to Edwards Air Force Base in California.
Officially, NASA still is targeting a 10:54 a.m. landing at Kennedy Space Center. But the runway here is covered by a low cloud deck and rainshowers both off the coast and over land.
So there is a good chance that mission managers might opt for a 10:44 a.m. landing opportunity at Edwards.
The forecast for KSC on Sunday calls for a chance of thunderstorms, lightning and rain.
