With weather forecast to be 60 percent unfavorable for Atlantis' Thursday launch, NASA managers will meet at 3:30 a.m. Thursday to decide whether to scrubb that day's launch.
At launch time rain, clouds and possible lightning are forecast to be over the launch pad, where Atlantis is ready to carry the European Columbus module to the International Space Station. Fueling the external tanks is scheduled to begin at 5:20 a.m.
"For launch, the front will be just about overhead," said Air Force weather officer Mike McAleenan at today's Countdown Status Briefing.
Weather will begin getting worse Wednesday.
"Today's going to be our last day of sunny, hot weather," he added.
With no major technical issues to confront, NASA managers today will meet to approve a flight plan should a kinked Freon hose leak. Also, they will give final approval to repairs made to correct intermittent signals from low-fuel sensors that shut down the engines before the tanks run dry.
"We have no problems to report," NASA test director Steve Payne said.
Atlantis' astronauts today will fly the Shuttle Training Aircraft and T-38 training jets.
