Live in orbit: Atlantis getting ready to leave ISS














Atlantis' crew moved their spacesuits back to the shuttle.


The Atlantis and International Space Station crews worked toward a farewell ceremony and hatch closure, which will be today at 12:15 p.m. EST. Atlantis undocks at 4:26 a.m. EST Monday and is scheduled to land at 9:06 a.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Space Center.

European Space Agency astronauts Hans Schlegel and Leo Eyharts have been working constantly on the Columbus laboratory, which Atlantis delivered. The lab, the size of a small bus, which will produce scientific data within weeks. The module will be operated from a control center in Germany, giving ESA a major role in the operation of the space station.

Next month, the Japanese will install a similar laboratory, which will allow more science to be performed.

Atlantis has given the space station supplies of food, oxygen and water. Additionally, during three spacewalks important new elements of the space station were added.

U.S. astronauts Stan Love and Rex Walheim this morning transferred U.S. spacesuits back to the shuttle for return to Earth.

The early part of the crew's day focuses on getting ready for undocking on Monday.

However, the shuttle crew has exercise and off-time scheduled.
