Romney to meet space leaders; Tour KSC

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will meet with a group of space industry officials today at the offices of AJT & Associates, Inc. in Cape Canaveral.

An invitation is required for the evening meeting. Before the meeting, Romney is scheduled to make a 90-minute tour of Kennedy Space Center. Earlier today he is scheduled to participate in a Martin Luther King Day celebration in Jacksonville.

Romney follows Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who met with about 35 space industry representatives on Friday in Port Canaveral.

The meeting is sponsored by the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast, which hopes to encourage presidential candidates to support the space industry in Florida.

Thousands of space industry jobs could be lost in the gap between the end of the shuttle program in 2010 and the first flight of NASA's next generation rocket.
