Live at KSC: Launch officially scrubbed

The launch of Atlantis has officially been scrubbed.

Special ground rules put in place for the attempt today called for the agency to stand down if any of four low-level fuel sensors in the shuttle's external tank failed to operate properly. The No. 3 sensor failed during propellant loading operations about 30 minutes ago.

Engineers are continuing to fuel the tank in an effort to gather data about the performance of the sensors.

NASA's Mission Management Team will meet later today to determine a course of action.
