The launch of Atlantis is about to be scrubbed.
One of four suspect fuel-level sensors failed as engineers were pumping supercold liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen into the shuttle's 15-story external tank.
"This is not good news," NASA launch commentator George Diller said.
Ground rules for the attempt today called for the launch to be scrubbed if any glitches were detected in the four low-level liquid hydrogen sensors.
The fuel-loading operation is continuing at pad 39A so engineers can troubleshoot the vexing problem. The Mission Management Team is discussing the situation.
Stay tuned.
