Discovery commander Pam Melroy is preparing to send commands to one of two solar wings at the end of the P6 power girder, which was mounted to the port side of the International Space Station's central truss earlier today.
The deployment of the two wings is considered critical to generating enough power to support the planned delivery in December of the European Columbus science laboratory. Columbus is slated to be launched Dec. 6 on Atlantis.

Spacewalkers Scott Parazynski and Douglas Wheelock soon will be heading back to the Quest airlock, wrapping up the third of five spacewalks planned during Discovery's stay at the station.
