Live in orbit: Contact and capture

Veteran Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko docked a Soyuz spacecraft at the International Space Station right on time. Speaking in his native language, he noted "contact and capture" and the crew now on the station congratulated him for the smooth final approach and docking.

Hatches are scheduled to swing open between the Soyuz and the station around 12:20 p.m. and the joined crews will greet each other in a welcome ceremony. A news conference with reporters at the Russian Mission Control Center outside Moscow then will take place.
