Columbus lab arrives at processing facility

Mounted atop a flatbed truck, a European space laboratory was transported today to a Kennedy Space Center processing facility, where it will be readied for a September 2007 launch to the International Space Station.

Named Columbus for the explorer who discovered the New World, the European Space Agency lab arrived at KSC Tuesday aboard a giant Beluga aircraft. Technicians will use an overhead bridge crane to hoist it into a work stand at the Space Station Processing Facility on Wednesday.
