The Atlas rocket and its payload -- a European TV satellite -- are coasting along as planned after the first of two firings of the vehicle's Centaur upper stage.
The RL-10 engine ignited four minutes and 18 seconds into flight and then shut down on time just about 18 minutes after launch. The Atlas now will coast for one hour and 26 minutes before a second Centaur engine firing.
The TV satellite is scheduled to be deployed from the rocket about 6:15 p.m.
