Unions who represent space workers have issued a challenge to Florida's government: They will put up $250 million out of their pension funds to lure space businesses if the state will match it. Our Tallahassee Bureau reports the participants include the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Space Coast AFL-CIO. The sticky point: the governor's budget does not ask for that much money to lure space business, and the legislature is still working out its plan.
An update: We're curious what local space union members think about their leadership's proposal. You can comment here or send email to us.
