Soyuz to dock tonight
The two men now on the International Space Station, Bill McArthur and Valery Tokarev, are heading into a sleep shift before the arrival of their replacements tonight. The Soyuz craft carrying new Commander Pavel Vinogradov, NASA's Jeff Williams and Brazilian astronaut Marcos Pontes is to dock at 11:19 p.m. EST. The craft is in orbit after a launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Wednesday night. The crew has conducted three engine firings to get the Soyuz into the correct orbit to rendezvous with the space station. We'll update the docking here in The Flame Trench.
