Fuel leak caused postponement

The cause of today's scrub was a fuel leak out of one of four vents that had been added to the system to eliminate the fuel loss that Fossett experienced on the last flight.

On the last flight, they lost several thousand pounds of fuel in the early hours of flight, raising the possibility he would not have made it around the world.

Scaled Composites added four vents to the system of 13 tanks. The Scaled guys say the fix is simple. A sealant is added to the tanks where the vents connect. That's going to take at least 24 hours. They are going to reseal all four of the vents.

Then, the team will reassess the weather outlook. They are definitely off for today, off for tomorrow, and haven't settled yet on a day later this week.
