KSC investigating launch pad fatality

Kennedy Space Center is investigating the death of a shuttle worker who fell to his death this morning at launch pad 39A.

The United Space Alliance employee fell about 7:40 a.m., NASA confirmed.

Kennedy emergency rescue crews were unable to revive the man, who's identity was not released.

Family members have been notified.

Work at the pad, where teams are preparing Endeavour for its targeted April 19 launch, and at other shuttle processing facilities has been suspended since the incident, and counseling is being offered.

"Obviously, as you can imagine, our focus is on the workers and the family of the employee, but an investigation is beginning," said Allard Beutel, a KSC spokesman.
