Old batteries are out

Astronauts removed two batteries that were aboard the International Space Station for 10 years.

The 375-pound batteries lasted well beyond their six-year expected life span.

Astronauts Mike Good and Garrett Reisman are now in the process of installing two new batteries.

These are the last of 12 batteries to be replaced.

Four were changed out Wednesday during Atlantis’ second spacewalk. The first six were swapped out on the STS-127 mission last July.
