Live in Orbit: Spacewalk ends, JEF mounted

Unable to finish the final task of deploying a second payload bracket, spacewalkers Dave Wolf and Tim Kopra returned to the airlock at 5:51 p.m. EDT, after the 126th spacewalk for construction of the International Space Station.

The excursion lasted 5 hours and 32 minutes, moving Wolf into 27th in the spacewalker record book with 31 hours and 51 minutes. First time spacewalker Kopra has 5 hours and 32 minutes.

Handed off between robot arms several times, the Japanese Exposure Facility, an outdoor space lab, was moved from the shuttle's cargo bay toward the Kibo module. The space station robot arm, which relocated itself on the station truss while the shuttle arm held the JEF, grappled the JEF and moved it toward installation on the Kibo module, where a mechanism grabbed the JEF and pulled it toward its mount.

The capture latches between the JEF and the Kibo were closed about 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Today's spacewalk began at 12:19 p.m. EDT, with the switching of spacesuits to battery power.
