Live in Orbit: Focused inspection not required

Though NASA engineers have not completed inspection of photographs of Endeavour's heat shields, they have concluded that further inspection of minor heat shield damage is unnecessary.

About a dozen falling pieces of foam apparently caused three minor areas of damage to the shuttle's tiles during Wednesday's launch.

Today's spacewalk will begin at 11:58 a.m. EDT. Dave Wolf, on his fifth spacewalk, will wear red stripes on the legs of his spacesuit. Timothy Kopra's suit will have no markings for his first spacewalk.

Watch the spacewalk by clicking on the NASA-TV selector to the right.

The pair will work to prepare the Japanese Exposed Facility for attachment to the Kibo module and perform a series of technical maintenance tasks.
