NASA is preparing to pick up an abbreviated countdown to the planned launch early Wednesday of shuttle Endeavour and engineers soon will unveil the spaceship on its launch pad.
The 13-story-tall Rotating Service Structure at Launch Complex 39A is set to begin rolling back away from the shuttle at 10:15 a.m. You can watch live here in The Flame Trench. The image above is from a live video camera at pad 39A and will automatically refresh every 30 seconds. So, in effect, you'll see sequential still video of the RSS rollback.
The move will take about 45 minutes to complete.
Engineers in Firing Room 4 of the Launch Control Center will resume the launch countdown at 1:15 p.m. today at the T-Minus 11 hour mark. The pad area will be cleared of all but essential personnel at 1:45 p.m. and fuel cell activation will take place at 2:25 p.m.
The shuttle's external tank is to be fueled for flight during a fuel-loading operation that will begin at 8:15 p.m.
Endeavour's astronauts will head out to the launch pad at 1:50 a.m. and the side hatch of the orbiter will be closed for flight at 3:35 a.m.
