Live at KSC: Team Checks Flame Trench Issue

A "red team" is checking out a flame trench deflector at launch pad 39A to make sure it's in the proper configuration for launch.

"We want to send a couple of guys in to take a look at that, because we can't see that very well with the cameras, so we want to verify (it) in person," said NASA TV commentator George Diller, who is positioned inside the Launch Control Center.

There is no indication that the issue could delay a planned 2:01 p.m. launch of Atlantis on a final mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope.

Most of the seven-astronaut crew is on board Atlantis. Mission specialists Mike Good and Megan McArthur are next in line.
