Spacewalkers ready for action

The crew of the space shuttle Atlantis is up and at work this morning preparing for the second spacewalking of the mission, which includes mostly routine maintenance tasks outside the International Space Station.

German astronaut Hans Schlegel and NASA's Rex Walheim almost immediately started working through their suit-up preparations for a spacewalk that is set to begin around 9:35 a.m.

The pair will install a nitrogen tank assembly on the P-1 truss and bring the old tank back to the payload bay for return to Earth.

Schlegel missed a spacewalk Monday due a medical condition that NASA would not disclose.

We'll have live coverage here this morning. Stay tuned.

The nitrogen tank assembly (NTA) sits in the payload bay beneath two European experiments, SOLAR and EUTEF. The spacewalkers will return the old tank to the payload bay.
