Crew arrives and makes statements

The Atlantis astronauts have arrived at Kennedy Space Center after a trip from Houston at the Shuttle Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center. Watch The Flame Trench for coverage of their statements.

Leading the seven-member crew in this FLORIDA TODAY photo is mission commander Stephen Frick followed by pilot Alan Poindexter and mission specialists Leland Melvin, Rex Waldheim, Hans Schlegel, Stanley Love and Leopold Eyharts.

Schegel and Eyharts both represent the European Space Agency. The prime payload for the flight is the European Columbus laboratory, the centerpiece of ESA's contribution to the International Space Station program.
