Live in orbit: Harmony approaches new home

Crane operators on the International Space Station are moving the U.S. Harmony module to a temporary home on the side of the American Unity module.

Deftly manipulating the 15.5-ton load is Discovery mission specialist Stephanie Wilson with an assist from station flight engineer Dan Tani.

The Harmony module ultimately will be moved to the front end of the U.S. Destiny module, where it will serve as a gateway to the European Columbus laboratory and the Japanese Kibo science research facility once they are launched to the outpost.

Columbus is to be launched aboard Atlantis in August, and the first three parts of the Kibo lab will be lofted aboard Endeavour in mid-February.
