Harmony prepared; Rollover Sunday

Technicians did about 10 days work in four days to replace hydraulic seals in Discovery's right rear landing gear strut, which acts as a shock absorber during landing. Tests found no leaks on Saturday, so NASA officials hope to move Discovery to the launch pad on Sept. 30, which would allow time to make the original Oct. 23 launch date.

With the rollover of Discovery to the Vehicle Assembly Building planned for early Sunday, the U.S. Node 2 module - known as Harmony - was lowered Friday into the waiting payload canister in the Space Station Processing Facility.

The canister will deliver Harmony to Launch Pad 39A for installation into space shuttle Discovery's payload bay. The Italian-built module is about 21 feet long and 14 feet in diameter. The pressurized module will act as an internal connecting port and passageway to additional international science labs and cargo spacecraft.

In addition to increasing the living and working space inside the station, it also will serve as a work platform outside for the station's robotic arm, according to a NASA press release.

And I can almost guarantee the techs will get little more than a cheap paper award and a hollow thanks from their manager for their efforts. But what would you expect from a comapny like United Space Alliance...

off topic but very very important...

A SERIOUS EPISODE OF CENSORSHIP !!!

I know that just a few peoples like my ideas, proposals and opinions while other peoples dislike them, but, I'm sure that, BOTH peoples, WANT their countries will ALWAYS have DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM and nobody likes that Google does in USA, Europe, etc. the same things it does in China for business (if you don't know what, just search more info googling...).

TWO years ago I've invented (and published on my website and several space forums and blogs) the idea of a Moonrovers Prize competition:

http://www.gaetanomarano.it/moonprize/moonprize.html

Then, I've (also) sent dozens emails to websites, newspapers and big companies to propose my idea, and that emails included one to Google (that I still have with the files of "mail read" replies).

So, when Google has announced "its" ("original") "Lunar X Prize", I've published two articles on my ghostNASA.com blog (hosted by Bravenet.com) including the mail sent to Google, as evidence of the TRUTH.

But, last Sept. 21, Bravenet, that seems be a Google's partner (like half world...) has SUSPENDED my website (that's now inaccesible) and (worst!) has DELETED my Bravenet account (and a PAID web hosting) so I can't access to my three domains (two of them now inactive) to move them to another server in Italy or Europe or Russia or India or wherever there is NOT that censorship.

Well, until I'll have back my domains and put them on another server, I want your help, since, what happened to me to-day, could happen tomorrow TO YOU or to every FREE peoples that want to publish their opinion without be CENSORED by BIG companies that believe they can do everything they wants!!!

I'm posting this message on as many as possible forums and blogs (and send to newspapers and websites) all over the world, but, of course, I can't reach all them, so, if you have a website, a forum, a blog (or write on other blogs/forums/websites/newspapers) please post this full message on them to allow peoples know WHAT Google and/or Bravenet have done!

Thank You

Gaetano Marano

Until I'll have my blog again, you can download a .pdf file with all blog's articles (including those about the Google's "original" lunar prize) clicking this link:

http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=85344279

PS - If you'll experience any problem to download the .pdf file, please send a mail to me, so, I'll put it on another server (and another, another, another... if necessary) and its link on my website's home page:

I just recently found this blog thinking that floridatoday.com was a sports site.
All the stories on this lame site are sports related. This blog talks about other things that don't require Sports Illustrated subscription. Thanks FT for attempting to reach beyond your sports coverage.

I'm angry that the local newspaper only covers sports. Check out the FT homepage. 90 percent is sports. ALL of the videos are highschool football. I don't play ball nor have kids throwing balls. Readers, for Brevard coverage check these sites out: Orlandsentinel.com; local6.com.

Really don't need either thank you very much. Just working on the shuttle program and doing what no others, like yourself, can ever touch or do and doing it sucessfully is award enough.
If you are so unhappy, why are you still here.

I think that the people involved would feel quite a bit of self-fulfillmenet and pride in a job well done! I suspect they don't need a pat on the back from anyone to feel good about what they've accomplished. Good job!

I am a little sad though for the IAW folks standing along-side the road waving and waiting for somebody else to make their life more fulfilling.

Some strikes make sense; but these folks have walked away from their high paying jobs with very competitive benefits and should not be surprised when they have been replaced.

Sorry, it's just the way I feel about it. I'm sure other's won't agree.

The IAM should form a job shop and find out in the real world what the net worth is of the IAM members on strike and what could they expect in pay and fringe benefits.
They would quickly find out they could not bring 50 cents on a dollar what they are getting from USA.

To the 6:59 post

I wonder what you will be paid in the real world once your time is up at your cushy job. Your time may be shorter than you think and I am sure your pay will be .50 on the dollar as well!! Have a nice day CHUMP!!!

these union bozos are so full of hate because they know their "leaders" sold them down the river. hows that 150 bucks a week working out for ya? seems to me the only chumps are standing on the side of the road holding signs.

Anonymous said...

Yes, 2 chumps flew to Houston full of pride and early alcohol to plead with USA to go back to the bargaining table. They were "sure" the company was failing without their "expertise". So the company says yes to the unions proposal to return to the table. They want a mediator involved, so they get one appointed and a date is finally set. What does the union do? Tells the local media that the company has asked them back to the table when all they (the company)did was call them with a date set up by the mediator. Pride swells up in the ranks of the signholders like never before. "We're needed!!

Today, Tuesday the 25th, 5 people returned to work. More will surely follow.

Where is the demand for the IAM employees on strike?
No one is at Taylor street wanting to hire this crowd.
They can not even buy a job at any contractor on or off KSC.

Hey heres an idea for you non-union chumps, stop by any picket line and express your views!! Wow that was a stupid comment to make, because you would have to have guts and or a backbone to do that!!
See you on the outside in a couple of years when your so called talents are no longer needed!! You tough guy bloggers really crack me up!! Your blogs give me countless hours of comic relief. Get a spine and drop by for a visit!!!

UAW had their strike resolved in 2 days. IAM 100+ and counting. methinks you guys need new leaders.

again with the hostility. why cant you iam-holes just admit you finally got caught with your hand in the cookie jar? now it snapped shut and your delegation is making hundreds of its own workers(AND FAMILIES) suffer for it. just because the old timers want a few more dollars of retirement for years of avoiding real work. for shame.
