NASA will pick up a two-day practice countdown today for the planned April 5 launch of Discovery and its astronauts will hold an informal Q&A with reporters at launch pad 39A.
Mission commander Alan Poindexter and his crew will be at the pad for emergency training this morning and the astronauts will field questions at the base of the 36-story launch tower. The 20-minute Q&A is scheduled to begin at 8:40 a.m. You can watch it live here in the Flame Trench. Discovery's pilot is James Dutton. Mission specialists are Rick Mastracchio, Dorothy Metcalf-Lichtenburger, Clay Anderson, Stephanie Wilson and Naoko Yamazaki of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
The astronauts will board Discovery Friday during the last few hours of the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test, or TCDT, which is the last major training exercise for shuttle crews at KSC prior to launch.
Discovery and its crew are scheduled to blast off at 6:27 a.m. April 5 on an International Space Station outfitting mission.
