FLORIDA TODAY to host two space forums

Three members of Florida's Congressional delegation and the director of Kennedy Space Center have agreed to participate in public forums about the nation's space policy and its impact on Brevard County.

The forums, which are sponsored by FLORIDA TODAY and Brevard Community College, will be held prior to President Barack Obama's planned trip to Florida on April 15, when he will discuss his plans for NASA and U.S. human space flight.

The forums will be held at the Simpkins Fine Arts Center on the BCC Cocoa campus. Forum times and participants are:

- 3 p.m. Friday, March 19, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson of Orlando and Robert Cabana, director of KSC

- 2:30 p.m. April 9, U.S. Representatives Bill Posey of Rockledge and Suzanne Kosmas of New Smyrna Beach.

Due to schedule conflicts, the officials could not appear at the same time.

Matt Reed, a senior editor at FLORIDA TODAY, will moderate. There will be opportunities to submit questions at the event.

The forums are open to the public, but seating is limited. The events will be streamed live on floridatoday.com and taped for later showing on WBCC-TV.
