Repair work continues, weather good

Repair work on a liquid hydrogen vent valve continues this morning at the Kennedy Space Center as crews scurry to be ready for a shuttle launch attempt Sunday evening.

You can read details about the attempted repair in this earlier post. The entire replacement operation is expected to last into this afternoon.

A slight chance of low-level clouds is only weather problem foreseen Sunday, when there's an 80 percent of favorable launch conditions. Monday, the chance of acceptable launch weather drops to 70 percent. Tuesday, the weather worsens significantly with showers, high winds at the launch pad and crosswinds at the shuttle landing strip being among the concerns. The probability of favorable weather is 40 percent.
