Strut repair nearly complete

Technicians worked to reinstall Discovery's wheel, brakes and instrumentation, after the repair of a leaking hydraulic seal Wednesday.

At meetings this morning, NASA engineers and managers could determine a plan for retesting the strut and set a schedule for moving the shuttle from its hangar to the Vehicle Assembly Building, said NASA spokesman Allard Beutel.

The agency hopes to avoid delaying an Oct. 23 launch date for a construction mission the International Space Station.
